Nursing Assistant Description

A person who assists licensed nursing personnel in the provision of nursing care.

•  Assist residents with dressing, bathing, oral    hygiene, and related personal care

•  Serve food

•  Feed residents

• Observe residents to report physical and behavioral symptoms to medical personnel in charge

• Take and record resident's blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, and weight

• Make routine entries into residents' charts

• Maintain clean and dry beds

• Change bed linen

• Gather and deposit soiled laundry

• Lift residents in and out of beds and/or wheelchairs

• Position residents when necessary

Course Supplies Required

• 3-Ring Binder
• High-lighter pen
• Gait belt (available at Cascade Medical School-$12)
• Scrubs - (colored/printed acceptable for regular NA program) available at Cascade Medical School-$25

• Soft soled totally enclosed shoes
  (clean athletic shoes acceptable)
• Watch with second hand.
• Name badge (provided by Cascade Medical School) to be worn each day
• Stethoscope (available at Cascade Medical School-$25)
